Marz Nightcrawler is 6 feet tall, with eyes nearly as dark as his midnight colored hair. He was born some eighteen summers ago in a rat infested hostel located in the poorest district of Bizmar city. Since the unknown woman who had come in to deliver her baby promptly died after his birth, the innkeeper of the hostel turned the infant over to the local orphanage.

Marz spent the first four years of his life there until a mill worker named Sistino adopted him. After six long years of abuse by his stepfather, Marz managed to run away from home at age ten. He then wandered the streets, taking up thieving to survive until LaCrot, the owner of a brothel, caught him. LaCrot promptly took Marz in and put him to work after teaching him the trade.

At age fourteen, Marz became a member of the Street Devils Gang, learning the ways of the sword from them while at the same time taking jujitsu lessons from a man named Wang who ran a shop in the city center called the Closed Fist Dojo. A year later, the members in his gang became disillusioned with their leader since he was proving insufficient at keeping their turf from rival gangs. Marz eventually killed him in battle, thus becoming the new head of the Street Devils.

What no one knows about Marz: Marz is the result of the mating between the god Apollo and an elven woman who died giving birth to him. Because of his god nature and elven heritage he possesses immense powers that are unknown to him. Others can sense wild magic within him, but he refuses to listen to such nonsense since he has a deep dislike for all things arcane, preferring the solid feel of a blade to mystic practices.
